career woman

A lover of art and literature Jackie agreed to work as an editor for Viking Press.

The job was going along well enough until the purchase of the book "Shall We Tell the President?" by Jeffrey Archer. The book was set in the future, with Edward M. Kennedy as President, and a plot to assassinate him. After finding out about this Jackie resigned and moved to Doubleday as an associate editor.

Jackie's description of what the job of an editor was like is this:

"An editor becomes like your mother... you expect love and encouragement from an editor."

Surrounded by books and writing was very suitable for Jackie. She was quoted as saying, "I always wanted to be some kind of writer or newspaper reporter, but after college... I did other things."

During this time Jackie met Maurice Tempelsman. Maurice moved into Jackie's apartment on Fifth Avenue, keeping her company until the day she died.

"THERE ARE MANY LITTLE WAYS TO ENLARGE YOUR CHILD'S WORLD. LOVE OF BOOKS IS THE BEST OF ALL."
